Choose where you work.

Use Windows, macOS, Linux, a dev container, a codespace, or a remote Linux VM. Your project must use the required versions and the standard project commands. Never commit a path that only exists on your computer, such as your home folder. Never make one editor, one machine, or one cloud company required.

CLOUD SAFETY

Set the budget to $0.

Check the current free offer before you create anything in the cloud. Turn on billing alerts and tags where you can. Keep databases private. Keep a list of everything you create. Stop or delete anything that costs money as soon as you have saved your proof. If no cloud path is both safe and free, run a staging copy on your own computer instead.
